In recovery we call that believing that you are “uniquely flawed” or “terminally unique.” That is, people come into recovery thinking they’re a special case, that their flaws or problems are traumas are so beyond help that no one and no thing can help. This is why a Higher Power is required — we need something greater than ourselves. Just in case it might be helpful, I just happened to do a podcast on this very topic last week! It’s called Terminal Uniqueness. Here’s the link in case you’re interested…https://www.higherpowercoachingandconsulting.com/podcast.html It’s episode 79 and should be right at the top. This may be hard to hear, but what I was told in recovery: you’re not THAT special! (You’re special, for sure, we all are — but you’re not THAT special!). Good luck with the changes you’d like to make Angelica!
